My review of the Big Rock Cafe and Grocery is in this week’s Cascadia Weekly! Here are a few more photos to go along with the article. I really am sorry I haven’t yet ordered the mac and cheese-stuffed jalapeno poppers, but I’ll be sure to put up a picture when I finally do.
I’m not generally a big fan of TVs in bars, but it was kinda fun being in here during a Seahawks game. Lots of yelling.
One of the many disembodied animal heads that decorate the walls of the Big Rock.
A damned good bacon and blue cheese burger. I want to try other things on the menu but I might find it hard to order anything besides this.
Although fish and chips were good, too.
And the falafel burger was not bad at all. I liked how the fries came in a little bucket, very classy.
Breakfast with booze is always fun, and given that the coffee is terrible you probably will want a beer. The corned beef hash was, sadly, not a patch on the stuff at the Hi-Lo in Weed, CA, or even the Sage Port Grill in Richland. Not terrible, but not inspiring. Excellent toast, though.
Mediocre biscuits and gravy. Not particularly flavorful, not particularly hot, and the biscuits were very soft. The regular hashbrowns were great, however, so maybe we just need to work our way through the breakfast menu to find all the winners.
As I say in the review, the ambience and service are pretty great, as is the tap list, so I anticipate we’ll be coming back with some regularity.
Hello! I just came across your blog, and while I’m not that far from MV (seattle), still it is pleasurable to read about home, and from such a delicious perspective. Thank you for sharing your culinary adventures.
