On Monday I really, really didn’t feel like going anywhere, including the grocery store. I rummaged through the refrigerator, then tossed a tweet out asking for suggestions based on my main available ingredients: macaroni noodles, fresh tomatoes, feta and salami. Cook Local (as well as my cousin Katherine) came through with an improvised pasta idea – thanks! I decided to add arugula at the last moment, partly to add color but mostly because a friend gave us a bag of arugula that still needed to be finished off – I had forgotten to list it among my assets.
IFBC
IFBC: a brief food report
So I went to IFBC again this year (the International Food Blogger Conference, for those not in the know). There are going to be a lot of other roundups out there, and I didn’t stay for the entire conference, so I’m just going to put up a few pictures of food here, I think.
conference food
In general, conference food is not something to write home about. When it’s a conference of food bloggers, though, it most definitely does get written about, so there’s some incentive to make it exciting! Here are some of the things we were fed at Foodista’s International Food Blogger Conference (for more details, click on the photos):
tired, but with serious swag
Being recently returned from the first International Food Blogger Conference in Seattle, I am, let me tell you, pooped. And I have to go to work today, too. But the conference was amazing, with great food and people and information, as well as the best conference swag anyone has ever seen. Here’s what my haul looked like, once I got it all unpacked:
Most of this stuff was donated to the conference by Sur La Table, an amazingly generous thing for them to do. I’m looking forward to settling it all into my kitchen and trying it out. I’m particularly excited about the Shun knife, the wine glasses, Ruth Reichl’s new book and a spiffy little Scanpan.
My brain is not so easily unpacked.
